Job Description:
The Oxford Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research has an opportunity for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the group of Professor Xin Lu, on an exciting project which proposes to study the inside-out and outside-in signalling cross talks between esophageal cancer cells and immune cells.
You will design and lead an original research project to understand how cancer cells can recruit monocytes and under what conditions monocytes can enhance the killing property of tumour-infiltrating CD8 T cells. You will operate laboratory equipment used for all aspects of cell/molecular biology/biochemistry.
You will be responsible for supervising and training junior staff in molecular biology techniques including but not limited to single cell RNAseq and ATAC Seq. Other responsibilities will include interpreting results and presenting them to senior members of the groups, managing your own academic research and administrative activities, and participating in and contributing directly to scientific discussions with other members of the research group.
It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil (or are close to completion) in experimental immunology, immunogenomics, or cancer biology. You will have technical knowledge in one or more of immune killing, ex-vivo organoids, or single cell/spatial -omics, and possess good communication skills, both written and verbal. It is essential you are able to organise and prioritise work efficiently whilst delivering results to the required standard and to an agreed schedule. A background working in tumour immunology would be highly desirable.
