Some pupils need a steady hand and a calm presence more than a textbook. That’s where you come in.
We’re looking for a resilient, caring, and emotionally aware SEMH Support Assistant to work across primary schools in Lewisham, supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. Whether it’s 1:1 or small group support, your job is to help children feel safe, supported, and understood—so they can engage in learning.
This isn’t just about behaviour. It’s about relationships, trust, and helping pupils navigate big feelings in small bodies.
What you’ll be doing:
* Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, anxiety, trauma, or behaviour challenges
* Building trust and providing consistent, calm support
* Collaborating with SENCOs, class teachers, and pastoral teams
* Using tools like Thrive, Zones of Regulation, or sensory strategies to guide pupils
You’ll need:
* Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
* A calm, grounded approach—even when things get tricky
* A team mindset and confidence liaising with school staff
* An enhanced DBS on the Update Service – or we’ll help you apply
What you’ll get:
* Weekly PAYE pay – no umbrella deductions
* FREE Thrive training and CPD resources
* A long-term, meaningful role where your impact really matters
* Consultant support from people who get SEMH and pastoral work
