This is an exciting opportunity to become a member of the WWL Maternity Team.
The postholder will be responsible for supporting the clinical area by providing general clerical assistance as determined by the needs of the service and team.
Main duties of the job
General clerical duties as deemed as appropriate by the area manager.
Effective verbal, written and electronic communication.
Confident use of relevant IT systems.
Act as the first point of contact for the clinical area, appropriately managing all communications and tasks allocated.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Provides effective verbal, written and electronic communications by receiving and passing on clear messages and seeking assistance when needed.
2. Acts as first point of contact for clinical area, dealing appropriately with all communications and tasks allocated, including sensitive issues.
3. Liaises with patients, relatives and visitors providing directions and information as required. Also obtaining the appropriate support when needed from the Multidisciplinary Team.
4. Maintain and photocopy records, prepare forms and make appointments as requested, this may include organising transport arrangements, ensuring that the information given is accurate and up to date.
5. Prepares and checks patient’s records completing the relevant documentation as instructed, filing reports and storing in correct place.
6. Liaises with the Multidisciplinary Team assisting in following up procedures and practice.
7. Requesting and obtaining investigation reports informing staff of the results.
8. Receives and processes mail and specimens, delivering to the correct place and carrying out errands between Departments.
9. Maintain stationary stock levels needed – this includes ordering, receiving and checking deliveries are accurate and reporting discrepancies.
10. Deal with enquiries and direct appropriately to the most appropriate person/location.
11. Establish and maintain an effective filing system.
12. Maintain spreadsheets for accurate data collection.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
13. GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
Desirable criteria
14. Keyboard and IT skills
15. NVQ Level 2 or above
Experience

16. Ability to work as a member of a team or independently
17. Effective communicator - verbal, written and electronic

18. Previous clerical experience
19. Previous experience of using maternity systems e.g. HIS/CRIS
