Job Summary
We are currently recruiting a Technical Training Lead at Henry Ford Academy in Scotland. Ford UK seeks a dedicated and experienced Technical Training Lead to lead the delivery and coordination of Apprenticeship and Adult Technical training at the Henry Ford Academy Scotland. This role supports Ford UK’s commitment to talent development and focuses on delivering manufacturer-specific technical training to apprentices and experienced dealer technicians across the Ford UK dealer network. You will ensure high-quality, relevant training that translates into improved dealer performance and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and deliver a blend of in-person and virtual technical training courses covering workshop automotive diagnostic and repair procedures for technicians and delegates across all levels within the Ford UK dealer network.
* Research the latest vehicle technologies to enhance training content; collaborate with the Development Team to maintain high standards and integrate findings into the curriculum.
* Foster a supportive and engaging learning environment, encourage questions, knowledge sharing, and utilise diverse teaching methods including hands-on and instructor-led approaches.
* Ensure training delivery, assessment, and reviews align with Apprenticeship Delivery Frameworks and UK education/skills standards; maintain accurate records of apprenticeship progress and coaching interventions.
* Build and maintain relationships with delegates, the Ford UK dealer network, Ford Specialists, Ford of Britain teams, FCSD, and the wider Ford UK Academy team to deliver effective training services; work with stakeholders and clients to align training with business needs.
* Contribute to internal quality assurance of Ford UK technical training programs; review delegate and dealer feedback and implement corrective actions and improvements.
* Support the Head of Learning & Development in demonstrating ROI of training to the Ford UK Dealer Network and Ford of Britain Training Manager.
* Regularly assess and refine career pathways for key technical job roles, ensuring all critical learning objectives are met.
* Support the development of manufacturer trainer materials and guides; collaborate with Digital and LMS teams to ensure an accurate and effective blended learning platform for the dealer network.
* Actively promote technical training programs to drive business growth and delegate placements.
* Maintain an expert level of industry knowledge through ongoing professional development.
Training Delivery Specifics
* Deliver an agreed number of training days annually for adult and apprentice technical training.
* Collaborate with Apprentice Operations and Learning Performance Teams to ensure a consistent schedule of courses.
* Meet Ford UK standards and Henry Ford Academy KPIs.
* Support robust evaluation processes to demonstrate real improvements in personal and business performance post-training.
* Provide expert support and coaching to the technical training team.
* Deliver "Train the Trainer" (T3) events as required.
* Ensure timely incorporation of the latest industry changes into training programs.
Communication & Advocacy
* Create and agree on customer communications to promote courses to the Ford UK dealer network.
* Brief the wider Ford UK Academy team to confidently advise customers on appropriate training routes.
* Maintain accurate and informative course brief documentation.
* Act as a passionate advocate for the Ford UK Henry Ford Academy and the Ford Brand.
* Collaborate strategically with all Ford UK Heads of Departments to align expectations and achieve shared objectives.
About You
* Proven experience in training delivery and design with a recognised qualification (e.g., TAP, CITP) or equivalent experience in technical training roles.
* Strong automotive background with experience in training design and delivery within a dynamic environment; preference for UK automotive industry experience, particularly with Ford products and technologies.
* Experience in a Service Technician environment with knowledge of vehicle systems/Ford Systems and technical concepts; high voltage systems knowledge is advantageous.
* Experience delivering technical apprentice programs, including administration and assessments.
* Ability to assess technician competence in line with external awarding body guidelines.
* Experience with digital learning solutions and understanding of ROI for training.
* Proven ability to manage stakeholders at various levels.
* Strong written English, IT literacy, and proficiency with multimedia design, publishing software, and Microsoft Office; excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to regional sites.
* Experience in producing training needs analysis, accreditations, and assessment architecture.

Salary & Benefits

Contract & Working Hours
Contract: Permanent / Full Time
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Place of Work
Main place of work is Eurocentral, Motherwell (ML1); regular travel to Daventry and Ford dealer sites required.
