Role Purpose
* To lead the development of WE Soda’s Commercial Strategy by monitoring and interpreting key industry, market, and macro/micro economic trends that impact the business throughout the commercial value chain.
* To support the successful execution of WE Soda’s Commercial Strategy by delivering market-driven insights (leading indicators, competitor analysis, etc.).
* To provide market-driven options, positions, and alternative competitive and partner strategies to improve returns.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development of industry outlook for soda ash and other chemical products, with a deep understanding of macro-and microeconomics drivers and their impact on the industry.
* Develop processes and models to monitor and report key leading and lagging micro-economic indicators and analyse their implications for the business.
* Work with Sales and Market Intelligence, to identify key customers within major end-use segments.
* Collaborate with the Mine-to-Market Supply Analyst to develop end-use, competitive and market forecasts at both regional and global levels.
* Guide and support analysts within the team in building and maintaining commercial models and databases.
* Drive cross-functional alignment among key stakeholders to improve value creation and recognition, and drive process improvement that results in continuous improvement.
* Lead or support the preparation of communication documents, including commercial strategy, Board meeting reports, monthly/quarterly/annual budget reviews, sales forecasts, conference papers, and analyst meeting materials.
* Lead, facilitate, or support ad hoc strategic projects as required, particularly those related to commercial strategy.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
* Degree in an analytical discipline (a STEM degree preferred)
* Strong analytical capability and attention to detail, with the ability to analyse complex market indicators, supply chain data, and financial reports, and translate insights into clear, compelling recommendations.
* Comfortable working in collaborative, international, and fast changing environment
* Capable of delivering high-quality results under time constraints
* Strong interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
* Proven ability to deliver high quality output under time constraints and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Required Experience
* Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar or relevant commercial or marketing role.
* Experience in industrial minerals, either in strategy or marketing.
* Experience in the application of strategic and microeconomic models is advantageous.
* Advanced proficiency in Excel, including complex formulas and pivot tables.
* Experience leading or contributing to data management projects.
* Extensive experience in trading and financial analysis is advantageous
