We are Airbus Operations Limited, and this role is part of the Structures Nonlinear Simulation & Virtual Testing department within the UK team. You will join a multidisciplinary team of around 30 highly skilled engineers across six Airbus sites, focusing on developing the future of structural analysis solutions using nonlinear Finite Element Method (FEM) and exploring AI and other advanced digital solutions.
What you will be doing
* Explore using AI to improve the simulation process and lead time.
* Software tool development to enable testing and maintenance approaches using coding and scripting.
* Acquire and hone scripting and coding skills while gaining knowledge of structural testing techniques and “Virtual Testing” simulations.
* Learn about aircraft design, manufacture and in-service support.
* Learn how Structures Tests are used to develop, validate and certify aircraft.
* Collaborate with Test Engineers, Simulation Engineers, Software Engineers and a transnational, highly skilled team.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Undergraduates only; must be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application. Include a CV and a Cover Letter outlining motivation and suitability.
* Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or Computer Science.
* Experience in coding or scripting (Python preferred).
* Basic skills with Git and GitLab.
* Strong mathematical, problem-solving and analytical abilities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience with Finite Element Method is a plus; knowledge of Deep Learning, Computer Vision, and Large Models is a plus.
* Security clearance: You will be subject to a BPSS check. You may also need UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control depending on the role.
