Job Type: Full-time 8.30am - 3.30pm
REED/LTA are seeking a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join an SEN hub at a vibrant Preston-based primary school in Preston. This role requires experience in special educational needs (SEN), as you will be working with a class of 8 children with complex needs across various primary ages. The position is active and dynamic, under the guidance of a teacher, and offers the potential to extend throughout the academic year.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Support a class of 8 children with complex needs in the SEN hub.
* Work under the direction of the classroom teacher to implement lesson plans and educational activities tailored to the needs of each child.
* Assist in creating a supportive, engaging, and safe learning environment for students with SEN.
* Utilise specialised strategies to promote student engagement and effective learning.
* Monitor and support the children’s progress and well-being throughout the school day.
* Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and the setup of the classroom.
* Engage in physical activities with the children to support their educational and developmental needs.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
* Proven experience working with children with SEN, particularly within a primary school setting.
* Understanding of the challenges faced by children with complex needs and the ability to adapt to these effectively.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact positively with children, staff, and parents.
* Energetic and enthusiastic approach, capable of meeting the physical demands of the role.
