Due to an internal promotion, this is a rare opportunity to join a forward-thinking, large, dynamic organization and a Finance Team committed to continuous service improvement in support of the Council’s strategic objectives.
We are looking to appoint an exceptionally experienced and skilled accountant to fulfill the role of Principal Accountant within the Financial Management service. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, the postholder will provide sound financial management support to the Economy and Place Directorate, including City Services, and will have a lead finance role in the Council’s wholly owned development company.
The Siglion Group comprises an ambitious development and investment company, set up to carry out a 20-year regeneration programme supporting Sunderland's transformation through major developments at Vaux/Riverside Sunderland, Potters Hill, and Seaburn. The investment company holds a portfolio of strategic assets. This is a unique accountancy role where the successful candidate will play a key part in providing financial management and support to the company and its Board.
The successful candidate must be capable of providing financial leadership, sound advice, and guidance within a large, dynamic organization. Additionally, they should support a commercially focused organization, understanding technical financial reporting, project development, appraisal, and support.
Strong analytical skills to consider complex scenarios and their financial implications, excellent communication skills, and the ability to foster productive, inclusive relationships within the Finance Service, Siglion, and the wider Council are essential.
You will join a well-regarded finance team and a Council with a renewed focus on leading the City forward.
