Overview
The post holder will assist the Associate Director of Midwifery and Children’s Services in developing the professional midwifery and neonatal nursing agenda to achieve consistency of practice, high standards of care and innovation with a strong patient safety focus.
Responsibilities
* Support the Associate Director in leadership, operational, professional development and governance of midwifery and maternity services.
* Provide expert professional advice on midwifery issues, clinical governance, quality, risk and safeguarding.
* Act as a role model, demonstrate respect, dignity and compassion, uphold equality and diversity and champion patient advocacy.
* Lead developments in practice consistent with national and local priorities and redesign services in line with best practice and evidence‑based care.
* Ensure Patient Safety, Patient Experience and Clinical Outcomes are monitored, measured and of a high standard.
Person Specification
Essential
* Registered Midwife with current NMC Registration
* Educated to Master’s level or working towards
* Evidence of ongoing professional development in midwifery
* Recent experience at senior clinical/managerial level
* Understanding of effective budgetary management and experience of managing budgets
* Complaints management experience
* Able to lead, empower others and influence innovative practice and service development
* Understanding of clinical governance, shared governance and evidence‑based practice
Desirable
* Professional Midwifery Advocate
* Recognised leadership development training
* Research/audit skills
* Experience of working with, involving and empowering groups of patients and the wider public on specific projects
