Consultant Neurologist role at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Consultant in Neurology to join our team of friendly and supportive neurology department. The Neuroscience department was built over ten years ago to provide a self‑contained department at York Hospital to include Neurology, Neurophysiology and multi‑disciplinary Neuroscience services for York and the surrounding area of North Yorkshire.
The department provides office space and all outpatient facilities for Neurology, Specialist Nurses, multi‑disciplinary and Neurophysiology clinics. The facilities include a physiotherapy gym, occupational therapy workshop, examination rooms, Consultant offices, secretarial offices, research rooms and a seminar room. The multi‑disciplinary team of specialist Neuro‑physiotherapists, Neuro‑occupational therapists, Speech and language therapists and Specialist Nurses are all housed in the department. One section of the department is dedicated to Clinical Neurophysiology outpatient and investigatory facilities. In addition, a team of Neuro‑psychologists provide psychology services from the department. We share the services of a dietician and there is a dedicated social worker based in the department.
The job will involve providing outpatients and elective neurology work based at York Hospital. The role supports a well‑established and collaborative department, focused on excellent, person‑centred care. Within the Trust we are part of Clinical Support and Cancer Services Care Group, which includes most specialist medicine services. We have a Clinical Director responsible for the all.
Individual job plans will be discussed with the post holder on appointment, with the Clinical Director to finalise the job plan which will become operational on commencement. All jobs’ plans are agreed in line with the Trusts Job Planning Principles.
As a department we are committed to supporting flexible job plans and will work with you to mutually agree your activity commitment. We have opportunities to explore teaching, research and quality improvement projects to enhance our service. We strive to support your leadership and development in role, and would be keen to discuss development pathways and subspecialty interests; ensuring activity is allocated within your job plan to achieve this.
