The Role
Due to our ongoing growth we are currently recruiting for an experienced and professional Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial Projects team based in Longbridge, Birmingham.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will report to the Managing Quantity Surveyor and work in partnership with Operations Management, acting as a lead figure within the surveying structure with responsibility for line management and be accountable for the development of the team.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor ensures accurate reporting is fundamental and will have a key focus on building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This is a full time permanent role working Monday to Friday.
The Customer
This will be working within our well-established Retrofit and Capital Works Projects division, this will be working on a range of projects up to £30m social housing refurbishment contract. Projects have the potential to grow past £30m.
Duties and Responsibilities
Senior Quantity Surveyor's duties and responsibilities will include the following:
* Ensure the company secures its full entitlement within the parameters of the contract and further commercial negotiations.
* Have direct responsibility for accurate, safe and effective Commercial delivery
* Consistently promote the company values and procedures internally and externally.
* Ensure the project team achieve or exceed budgeted targets.
* Responsible for the application schedule of rates, acting as a subject matter expert for contractual arrangements.
* Maximise cash flow through monthly invoicing, the implementation of appropriate procedures to resolve client queries and ensuring cash is received when due.
* Monitoring and analysis of management information and job cost against job revenue, supporting the operations and finance and enable data driven decision making
* Point of contact for dispute resolution.
* Manage potential disputes in a timely manner.
* Ensure Accurate Cash flow Forecasts and Revenue profiles are in place accurate and updated regularly.
* Supporting the MQS in the preparation and timely reporting of information including Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR), Cost Value Comparison (CVC) and management accounts, providing governance of budgets through robust cost control.
What You Will Need
The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
Essential criteria:
* Previous experience within a senior commercial management role
* Excellent numeracy and organisation skills
* Experience within the Construction/Refurbishment sector
* QS degree or equivalent training relevant experience
* Use data interrogation skills.
* Excellent IT knowledge including a high level of Excel skills (incl. V-Lookup, Pivot tables and formula development)
* Contractual awareness
* Negotiating and communication skills
* Line management experience and the development of people
* Detailed knowledge of relevant contract conditions
* Experience of Management Accounts
* A high level of organisation and achieving deadlines.
* Maintaining technical knowledge and understanding.
* Providing feedback for new and effective systems and controls for the business.
* Positively reacting to change and assisting in its implementation in the business.
Desired criteria:
* Working towards MCIOB or RICS membership.
* Experience or working within Retrofit/Capital Works refurbishment programmes
