Job Summary
We are seeking an exceptional Non‑Executive Director (Nurse) to join the Board at Horder Healthcare. This unique opportunity will enable you to shape the strategic direction of a well‑established and growing healthcare charity, champion patient safety and outcomes, provide independent challenge and support to the Executive team, and develop a culture of quality, compassion and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
* Provide oversight of clinical governance, patient safety and safeguarding
* Ensure quality, risk and assurance systems are effective and meaningful
* Keep patient experience and outcomes at the heart of Board decisions
* Offer senior clinical insight to influence strategy, transformation and quality improvement
* Chair the Clinical Governance Committee, playing a key leadership role
* Act as an ambassador for the organisation and its values
Qualifications
Essential Experience
* Registration as a qualified nurse with significant senior leadership experience
* Experience operating at Board or equivalent strategic level
* Deep expertise in:
o Governance, accountability and assurance
o Strategy and organisational performance
o Organisational culture and values
o Service development and improvement
o Healthcare regulation (including CQC frameworks)
o Strong analytical thinking and the ability to interpret complex information and ask the right questions
Desirable Experience
* Chief Nurse, Director of Quality or equivalent
* Service transformation, improvement or pathway redesign
* Knowledge of independent healthcare, charity governance or community services
Commitment & Duties
Approximately 6 Board meetings per year (in person, including strategy sessions); chair the Clinical Governance Committee (4 meetings annually); participate in Finance & Resource Committee meetings; allocate time for preparation, development and stakeholder engagement.
