Our client manufacture machinery for the treatment and disposal of food waste, they are now looking to recruit a Moble Maintenance Engineer. Home based and reporting to tje Engineering Manager Manager, the Maintenance Engineer will:be:responsible for the planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance of waste disposal and recycling machinery, ensuring maximum operational efficiency, minimal downtime, and compliance with health and safety standards. Key Responsibilitie Maintenance & Repairs * Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on all waste disposal and recycling equipment, including conveyors, shredders, compactors, balers, and sorting systems. * Respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and complete effective repairs to minimise downtime. * Conduct routine inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and component replacements as required. * Equipment & Systems * Work with hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems. * Ensure equipment is calibrated, tested, and operating to manufacturer specifications. * Maintain accurate maintenance records and update asset management systems. * Continuous Improvement * * Support process improvements to increase equipment reliability and efficiency. * Provide technical input into equipment upgrades and replacement projects. * Assist in training operators on correct use and basic maintenance of machinery. * Skills & Experience Essential: * Proven experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance, ideally within waste management, recycling, or heavy industrial environments. * Competence in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical faults. * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals. * Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance. * Understanding of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations. Desirable: * Electrical qualifications (e.g., 18th Edition, NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering). * Welding and fabrication experience. * Experience with PLC-controlled systems. Qualifications: * NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering. * Health & Safety training (e.g., IOSH, SPA Passport) preferred.
