Summary
The Director of Security and Emergency Management is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and administration of Rutland Regional Medical Center's security and non-clinical emergency management and preparedness program. The primary focus of this role is to ensure a safe and secure environment for all employees, patients, visitors, and organizational assets. The Director oversees the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of security and non-clinical emergency management operations, policies, procedures, and training programs to support a high-reliability, prevention-focused culture.
This position ensures full compliance with all applicable federal and state regulatory requirements related to hospital security and non-clinical emergency management, including physical security standards, workplace violence prevention, access control, and incident response. The Director will recommend and request updates to RRMC's security and non-clinical emergency management posture on an ongoing basis to ensure the needs of the organization are met by staffing, security controls, physical safeguards, and appropriate training.
The role requires strategic leadership, strong collaboration with internal and external partners, and operational excellence to maintain the highest levels of protection and service quality across the organization.
Minimum Education
* H.S. Diploma
* Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Emergency Management, Public Administration, Law Enforcement or a related field preferred.
* Requisite law enforcement experience and training may be considered in lieu of an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree.
Minimum Work Experience
* 10 years of law enforcement leadership experience with a broad span of control over multiple departments or functional areas.
* 20 years of law enforcement experience
* Experience managing people, especially as it relates to law enforcement activities and protection.
* Experience managing available resources as it relates to projects and major initiatives.
Required Licenses/Certifications
* Current or prior certification or license as a law enforcement officer or possesses or maintains a current retired law enforcement certification card or actively pursuing (i.e. LEOSA).
* Current valid Driver's License
* Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (IAHSS)*
*required within three years of hire

* Able to develop and deliver training materials for employees of all levels as well as the community.
