An opportunity for an Automation Engineer with strong PLC fault-finding skills to join a growing West Yorkshire-based industrial automation business.
This Automation Engineer role is service-focused rather than project-heavy and suits a PLC Engineer / Controls Engineer who enjoys problem-solving, variety and technical autonomy without constant long-haul travel.
The Automation Engineer role -
Remote fault-finding and diagnostics on PLC-controlled machinery and production lines
Some on-site support for breakdowns and investigations
Typical site work: 23 days per week, mainly Yorkshire and Lancashire day trips
Mix of modern automation systems and older legacy equipment
Inspection, testing and reporting of electrical and control systems
On-call explained -
9 days in every 28 on call
Includes 7 overnight on-call days
Home-based during on-call periods
Engineers currently average around two calls per week when on call
On-call uplift included in the £65k package
Key requirements for the Automation Engineer position -
Automation Engineer / PLC Engineer / Controls Engineer with PLC fault-finding experience
Ability to interrogate PLC code and understand logic
Allen Bradley, Siemens or Mitsubishi experience beneficial
You do not need to program PLCs from scratch
HNC/D in Electrical or Electronic Engineering preferred
18th Edition desirable
Full UK driving licence essential
Right to work in the UK without sponsorship
