CARE SUPPORT WORKER – CRITICAL CARE
Band 2 - 12 Months Fixed Term Contract (Full/Part Time)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for Clinical Support Workers to join the Critical Care team at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust. This role is based within a high-acuity environment, supporting patients with complex needs and working closely with the multidisciplinary team. Post holders will assist with personal care, basic clinical tasks, and help maintain a safe and clean setting, contributing to the smooth running of the Critical Care. The position involves working a rotational shift pattern, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
We welcome applications from individuals who hold a GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics. Main duties of the job
1. Provide high standards of cleanliness within Critical Care.
2. Be responsible for the safe storage of equipment and consumables.
3. To be responsible for environmental cleaning.
4. To maintain the safety and security of patients, staff and visitors.
5. Assist in the achievement and maintenance of high standards of patient care.
6. Provide support and assistance to the Critical Care multidisciplinary team when carrying out procedures.
7. Complete administrative tasks.
8. Participate in unit governance and audits.
9. Support in the management of procurement.
10. Manage transfer, admission and discharge.
11. Answering phone calls in a polite and professional manner, assisting within the scope of practice and directing calls to the relevant persons.

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
12. Maths and English qualification – GCSE A-D, or Grade 4-9, or Functional Skills Level 1
13. Care Certificate or ability to complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment
14. QCF/NVQ Level 2 in healthcare or equivalent qualification/relevant experience
Knowledge & Training
Essential criteria
15. Ability to recognise limitations of knowledge and competence and practice within these boundaries
16. Prepared to undergo further training
17. Able to use and update IT systems with patient information
18. An understanding of their role within the team
19. Prepared to complete CCN3 CSW competencies
Experience
Essential criteria
20. Able to assess patient’s health, safety and wellbeing while undertaking personal care and referring/escalating to other staff as appropriate
21. Regular contact with bodily fluids when carrying out interventions and treatments
22. Frequent moderate/intense effort required for periods of time
23. Experience in a healthcare environment
Desirable criteria
24. Manual handing of patients (including toileting, bathing and turning patients), equipment and stores
Communication & Relationship Skills

25. Evidence of effective communication skills including Verbal Written (legible handwriting) Non-verbal Compassion and respect
26. Ability to communicate appropriately with patients, relatives and / or carers
