Reporting to the Directors and this is a hands-on Company Accountant role is responsible for the day to day management of the finance function. You will oversee all transactional finance, payroll, HMRC compliance and month and year-end processes, acting as the primary finance lead within the business.The position is with a long established import and distribution business operating across the UK retail and trade markets. With an international supplier base and multi currency transactions, the company has built a strong reputation in its sector and continues to grow through long standing customer relationships and operational expertise.Key Responsibilities Full responsibility for daily finance operations, including cash management, banking and reconciliations (GBP, EUR and USD)Managing weekly UK and international supplier payment runs, including foreign currency transactionsOverseeing purchase and sales ledger processes, ensuring accurate postings and reconciliationsMonitoring aged creditors and debtors, resolving queries and investigating discrepanciesProcessing weekly and monthly payroll, including RTI submissions, pensions, P11Ds and payroll journalsPreparing quarterly VAT returns and supporting compliance submissions in conjunction with external accountantsActing as first point of contact for HMRC queries and audit requirementsManaging month-end close, reviewing P&L, trial balance and balance sheet reconciliationsMaintaining clean and accurate ledgers ahead of external accountant reviewSupporting year-end processes, including reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and audit preparationKey Experience Proven experience in a standalone or number one finance role within an SME environmentStrong working knowledge of payroll, VAT and HMRC complianceExperience managing multi-currency transactions and foreign supplier paymentsConfident overseeing both transactional finance and month-end reportingComfortable liaising with external accountants and auditorsPractical, hands-on approach with the ability to work independentlyPackage & Working Pattern Salary to £38,000 depending on experience with room to build on thisOffice-based role in West YorkshireFull-time position with standard weekday hoursIPS Finance has 45 years experience in the Yorkshire accountancy recruitment market.
