Mechanical Design Engineer (Contract Opportunity)
OverviewA specialist engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support a series ofplex machinery and manufacturing‑system projects. Thepany delivers mechanical design, electrical integration, fabrication, and full turnkey engineering solutions for clients.
This contract role is ideal for hands‑on designer who can take concepts through to manufacturing and enjoys working closely with multi‑disciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. 3D CAD Modelling — Produce detailedponent, assembly, and manufacturing drawings using Inventor or similar.
2. Design for Manufacture — Create drawings and specifications optimised for fabrication, machining, and assembly.
3. Cross‑Functional Collaboration — Work alongside electrical, controls, and software engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
4. Problem-Solving — Resolve design challenges, support prototype builds, and contribute tomissioning activities.
5. Technical Documentation — Produce BOMs, reports, andpliance‑related documentation as required.
6. Project Support — Participate in design reviews and provide engineering input throughout the project lifecycle
Essential Skills & Experience
7. Strong background in mechanical design for machinery, automation, or industrial equipment
8. Proficiency 3D CAD
9. Experience producing manufacturing drawings, tolerance, and GD&T
10. Good understanding of fabrication, machining, and assembly processes
11. Ability to take designs from concept through to build and installation
12. Strong analytical and practical problem‑solving skills
