A client school in the Northumberland area NE61 is seeking a confident, supportive and motivated Learning Support Assistant to join our SEND team. This role involves working closely with students who have a range of additional needs, with a particular focus on supporting learning within English lessons up to GCSE level.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEND, primarily within English.
* Assist learners in developing reading, writing and comprehension skills.
* Confidently support content up to GCSE level.
* Collaborate with teaching staff to deliver personalised learning approaches.
* Encourage independence, resilience and positive learning behaviours.
* Adapt tasks and resources to suit individual learning needs.
* Support classroom management and contribute to a calm, supportive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Be confident supporting GCSE-level English (spoken and written).
* Have experience working with students with SEND (ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, communication needs, SEMH).
* Be patient, consistent and committed to student progress.
* Work effectively as part of a team and follow teacher guidance.
* Be proactive, enthusiastic and able to build positive relationships with learners.
Beneficial Backgrounds Include:
* Previous Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant roles
* English tutoring or literacy support experience
* Youth work or mentoring
* Health and Social Care
* Behaviour support roles
* Graduates with strong English skills
* Classroom experience within secondary or SEND environments
