Job Description
To provide a security service at the working location in line with the Assignment Instructions and customer requirements in order to protect the customer’s employees, property, and other assets. The Security Officer will deliver the highest levels of customer service, consistently demonstrating Securitas’ core values of Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness. The Security Officer is expected to act professionally at all times and follow all site‑specific procedures.
(NB: the prospective Security Officer must have acquired the full SIA licence before being able to start work on operational shifts.)
Responsibilities
Protection of Property and Premises
* Prevent and deter unauthorised access to the site.
* Monitor fire alarms, intruder alarms, and CCTV systems as appropriate.
* Conduct external and internal security patrols in line with Assignment Instructions.
* Provide traffic control and apply parking restrictions where required.
* Carry out routine tests of security equipment as necessary.
* Manage keys and perform locking and unlocking duties in accordance with Assignment Instructions.
* Ensure all equipment provided by the customer and Securitas is handled and maintained in line with agreed procedures.
* Maintain accurate logbooks and records as required by Assignment Instructions.
* Issue visitor and contractor passes in accordance with site procedures.
* Handle lost property in line with Assignment Instructions.
Health and Safety
* Provide support, guidance, and information to staff, visitors, and contractors while ensuring the safety and security of the premises.
* Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
* Identify, record, and report faults, health and safety hazards, and unsafe working practices to the supervisor or manager.
* Report and record all accidents in accordance with Assignment Instructions.
* Ensure all walkways and emergency escape routes remain clear at all times.
* Report any use of First Aid equipment and any shortages within First Aid boxes.
* Notify the Securitas Operations Centre (SOC) of any emergencies and follow all instructions given.
* Investigate and establish the cause of all fire alarm activations.
What we’re looking for:

* A valid SIA licence (or be actively working towards acquiring one).
* The right to work in the UK, with a five‑year checkable employment history, or the ability to provide documentary evidence for any periods of unemployment, self‑employment, or full‑time/part‑time education during that time.
* Be over 18 years of age.
* No current criminal convictions.
* Strong written and spoken communication skills in English.
* Demonstrate the ability to embody and uphold Securitas’ core values of Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness.
* A professional, customer‑focused approach with excellent interpersonal skills.
* The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Be punctual, reliable, and professional at all times.
* Be flexible and willing to work shift patterns, including days, nights, and weekends.
* A full UK driving licence and access to own transport is desirable.
