Network Engineer - Low Latency - AWS - Palo Alto - Financial Services
Excellent opportunity for a skilled, hands-on Network Engineer with Low Latency experience and strong expertise in AWS & Palo Alto to join a leading Financial Services organization in Coventry. You will be part of the Infrastructure team, reporting to the Head of IT Infrastructure, collaborating with developers, project stakeholders, and operations to build and maintain high-performance network infrastructure supporting trading activities.
Role Responsibilities
1. Design, deploy, and manage scalable, secure cloud and datacenter infrastructure to support high-performance trading, including advanced AWS networking components (VPCs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, etc.).
2. Optimize low-latency connectivity, support colocated servers near exchanges, and implement cost-efficient network solutions.
3. Automate infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, and GitLab CI/CD, applying GitOps principles for consistent deployments.
4. Build resilient, self-healing network systems.
5. Optimize infrastructure for low latency and high availability, collaborating on performance tuning and troubleshooting cross-region network issues.
6. Maintain security best practices and adhere to standards such as AWS CIS Benchmark.
7. Support multi-region and multi-account AWS environments.
8. Provide documentation and verbal communication of network solutions and issues.
Professional Experience and Skills
1. Advanced AWS knowledge, ideally at AWS Professional Certification level.
2. Extensive experience with AWS networking services including Transit Gateway, VPC, Direct Connect, and VPC peering.
3. Strong understanding of on-premises datacenter networking and colocation environments.
4. Proficiency with Terraform and Ansible for automation.
5. Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and GitOps principles.
6. Knowledge of container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes (EKS).
7. Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as OpenSearch, Prometheus, and Grafana.
8. Experience designing low-latency networks, especially in financial trading contexts.
9. Excellent communication and documentation skills.
10. Background in supporting high-performance trading or financial systems is preferred.
11. Ability to design fault-tolerant, resilient network architectures.
