AVL Powertrain UK Ltd has an exciting opportunity for a passionate and enthusiastic Engineer and/or Senior Engineer to join our thriving DDI Department (Design, Development and Industrialisation) based in either Coventry, Peterborough, or Basildon. The location will be determined based on project demands. This is an opportunity to play a crucial role in developing modern passenger car and heavy-duty powertrain systems.
The Component Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, signing off, and releasing powertrain components. They will support the customer team in identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex problems related to structural and/or electrical components, battery components, ICE, or fuel cell. Candidates should be qualified in design with component engineering experience.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Component design (proficiency in at least one CAD package)
2. Following the automotive development process from concept to production
3. Knowledge of design for manufacture, manufacturing processes, material selection, process control technologies, machining techniques, and tolerance design
4. Interpreting CAE and CFD analysis data to assess impact on design
5. Developing FMEA and design verification test plans
6. Analyzing test data and its impact on design
7. Supporting component specifications for sign-off
8. Preparing reports with recommendations and proposals
9. Collaborating with various organizational groups
10. Traveling within the UK and internationally as needed
11. Supporting client project discussions
12. Promoting AVL's competencies and services within client teams
YOUR PROFILE:
Essential:
* Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics Engineering or similar (min 2:1)
* Understanding of vehicle/powertrain system and component requirements
* Knowledge of GD&T, FMEA, DVP&R, 8D techniques
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Excellent English language skills
* Effective presentation skills
* Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
* Ability to work independently and in teams
* Driving license
* Willingness to travel
* Flexible, motivated, and passionate attitude
Preferable:
* Experience with Battery, Fuel cell, or ICE Design & Development
* Masters or PhD in relevant field
* Membership of a professional institute (e.g., IET, IMechE)
* Experience with CAD tools like Catia, NX, or similar

Annual Remuneration: The gross salary range is £36,000 - £52,000, depending on qualifications and experience, compliant with UKVI requirements.
