NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
The Role
As part of Unscheduled Care within the whole system of Community Mental Health Services the post holder must be a registrant of the NMC and will work closely with all disciplines and agencies. The post holder will provide a service for individuals with complex mental health, physical and social care needs who present in crisis and may require additional home treatment or care intervention over a 24‑hour period, also providing a specialist mental health service into the Mental Health Assessment Units and Emergency Departments within the General Hospital setting.
The service provides assessment and access to mental health inpatient beds over a 24‑hour period throughout GG&C. This includes arranging hospital admission for a patient should this be required. Due to the rapid response nature of Unscheduled Care, the post holder will respond appropriately to patient need and will be responsible for prioritising their own and junior staff’s workload and utilising resources appropriately to ensure all patient needs are met. They will be accountable to the Nurse in Charge and on occasion will be required to cover for them in their absence. They will be supported by the Nurse Team Leader. The service operates over a 24‑hour period and has two bases across NHS GG&C which will require the post holder to cross cover from their base when necessary.
You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post.
