Charge Nurse - Mental Health

Registered Nurse managing and delivering care to a defined caseload / group of clients / patients; responsible for delivering / ensuring the application of the framework of the Nursing Process and use of case management as appropriate, to ensure a high standard of quality client / patient care, working in partnership with other disciplines and agencies. The charge nurse has delegated responsibility for the appraisal, management and clinical supervision of Registered Nurses, junior practitioners and clinical support workers in provision of care and treatment within a defined clinical service, under the management and leadership of the team leader / senior charge nurse or practitioner.
This post is part of NHS Lanarkshire’s Prisoner Healthcare team and represents an opportunity to support recovery in a challenging and rewarding environment.
* Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration.
* Educated to, working towards or operating at degree level.
* Postgraduate expertise within the specialty / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge to lead effectively.
* Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the specialty / area of practice.
* Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the specialty/area of practice.
* Leadership skills to enable day‑to‑day management of service delivery.
* Evidence of continuous professional development in the area of specialty, including study days, courses or postgraduate qualifications.
* Excellent team‑working and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative.
* Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Effective time‑management skills.
* Working knowledge of basic information technology.
* Flexible working required.
* A full, valid UK/EU/EEA driver’s licence.
Contract type: Permanent, part‑time (20 hours). Please note this is a part‑time post and the salary for this position will be pro‑rata.
Location: This role will be based in Prisoner Healthcare within HMP Shotts. The working pattern is five days over seven.
