We're looking for a Social Sustainability Manager to join our Group Services Team. The social sustainability manager will lead on the delivery of the social sustainability elements of the Building for a Sustainable World framework.
Location: Flexible on location - hybrid working available, with travel to the office and sites as required.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week - some flexibility available if desired; please discuss this during your application.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Social Sustainability Manager, you'll support the Group Services Team in delivering social sustainability within Kier Group. Your daily responsibilities will include:
1. Engaging and influencing business streams to understand and achieve social sustainability targets, and assisting in necessary actions when targets are not met.
2. Liaising with industry bodies, NGOs, and relevant indices to ensure compliance with legislation and staying updated on best practices and legislative changes.
3. Advising business leaders on social sustainability strategies and plans.
4. Collaborating with HR and the Kier Foundation to align and synergize approaches to social sustainability.
5. Working with business streams to implement the social aspects of Kier's Building for a Sustainable World framework and supporting the group's social sustainability initiatives.
What are we looking for?
This role is ideal for candidates with:
1. Experience managing sustainability programs with a strong social and corporate responsibility focus.
2. Commercial awareness and the ability to promote the brand.
3. Experience managing budgets and demonstrating ROI.
4. Skills in drafting policies and processes for broad sustainability programs, including areas like Business Ethics, Human Rights, ESG, procurement, etc.
5. Ability to build relationships across various services supporting a large organization.
6. Experience working with external agencies and auditors for social sustainability reporting, such as BITC or similar.
7. Experience managing and reporting on diverse data streams related to people, environment, marketplace, and governance.
8. Familiarity with social value calculators like Thrive and confidence in social value reporting.
9. Membership in professional bodies such as IEMA, ICRS, or similar is preferred.
