Job overview
The Safeguarding Support Lead is a fixed-term role established to provide additional operational and specialist safeguarding support to the Chief Medical Officer, Head of Safeguarding and wider safeguarding team during a period of service development and increasing demand across the organisation. The role will enhance existing safeguarding arrangements and strengthen organisational capacity.
The post holder will provide specialist advice, guidance and support throughout the organisation to promote the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and adults at risk, helping to ensure safeguarding concerns are identified and managed appropriately.
The Safeguarding Support Lead will support all HUC staff working with vulnerable children, young people and adults at risk, including cases of actual or suspected abuse. The post holder will work collaboratively with colleagues across HUC, alongside statutory and voluntary partner agencies, to support effective safeguarding practice and multidisciplinary working.
Main duties of the job
* Support the development of a positive organisational safeguarding culture that is open, transparent, learning-focused and committed to continuous improvement in safeguarding practice.
* Provide specialist safeguarding advice, guidance and support to HUC staff in identifying concerns relating to children, young people and adults at risk, ensuring the voice of the patient is central to decision-making and promoting a “Think Family” approach.
* Work collaboratively with the safeguarding team to ensure safeguarding concerns raised by HUC colleagues through internal processes are appropriately triaged, referred to relevant local authorities and shared with partner agencies where required.
* Represent HUC internally and externally at safeguarding meetings, working groups and partnership subgroups, supporting the dissemination of learning and contributing to procedural improvements and organisational learning events.
* Participate in the collection and review of information relating to safeguarding incidents and reviews, and other safeguarding investigations, including compiling chronologies where delegated by the Head of Safeguarding.

Person specification
Experience
* Educated to Degree level
* Have both children and adult safeguarding experience
* Safeguarding training level 4
* Experience in processing and managing safeguarding concerns
* Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and respond effectively to safeguarding situations
