Mechanical Service Engineer
💰 £40,000 - £47,000 per year (DOE) | 🕒 Full-time | Permanent
A leading provider of engineering services to heavy industry, including Energy, Refinery, Aggregate, and Utilities, is seeking a Mechanical Service Engineer. This role involves maintaining, repairing, and fault-finding on rotating equipment, including large turbines, pumps, and auxiliary machinery. Most client sites are within an hour's drive, with occasional UK wide travel.
Key Responsibilities
Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on turbines, pumps, and BOP (Balance of Plant) equipment
Conduct fault finding, defect repairs, installation, and commissioning
Use precision measuring tools, alignment equipment, and micrometers
Complete detailed reports, condition assessments, and technical documentation
Assist and lead planned projects and outages
Manage work schedules efficiently and respond to callouts on a 1 in 5 basis
Skills & Experience Required
Mechanical qualifications: ONC, HNC, NVQ, or equivalent
Proven experience with rotating equipment in heavy engineering or power generation sectors
OEM pump or turbine experience preferred
Strong technical ability in fault diagnosis, measuring, and reporting
Excellent customer service, communication, and teamwork skills
Self-motivated, independent, and flexible
Full, clean driving license
Ability to pass security clearances, physically fit and willing to work away from home
Salary & Benefits
£40,000 - £47,000 per year plus Travel allowance / extra payments for client site travel
