About Us
United Utilities' (UU) purpose is to deliver great water for a stronger, greener, and healthier Northwest. To achieve this, we need skilled finance professionals to help us manage our financial resources effectively and support critical business decisions.
We're looking for a motivated, fully qualified accountant with consultancy experience who is interested in developing their understanding of treasury and finance within a major FTSE 100 company.
What You'll Be Doing
This is a broad Finance role within our Treasury team, designed to give you exposure to treasury activities without requiring prior treasury dealing experience. You'll receive comprehensive training and hands-on experience in areas such as:
* Supporting daily cash management processes and working closely with our banks to help maintain liquidity across the UU Group.
* Learning about financial risk management including liquidity, credit risk, and the group's financing strategy.
* Preparing clear, insightful reports and management information packs for senior stakeholders.
* Assisting with compliance, regulatory requirements, and treasury policy adherence.
* Supporting projects related to treasury operations and investor relations.
* Engaging with IT systems and tools that support treasury and financial reporting.
* Participating in a structured 3-month training program to build your treasury knowledge and confidence.
This role is ideal for someone keen to broaden their finance expertise beyond traditional consultancy work and interested in a career path that includes Treasury exposure and professional development opportunities.
What We're Looking For
We want a motivated and analytical finance professional who has:
* A fully qualified accountancy designation (CIMA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
* Experience working in a consultancy environment (Big 4 or mid-tier preferred).
* Strong numerical skills and a keen attention to detail.
* Solid IT skills, particularly Excel (knowledge of macros and Power Query is a bonus).
* The ability to analyse and interpret financial data with clarity.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
* Resilience, good time management, and a collaborative mindset.
* An interest in process improvement and innovation.
* A willingness to learn and potentially study towards the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT) qualification (training and support provided).
What We Offer
* Competitive salary and pension scheme (7% employee, 14% employer contribution)
* Annual performance-related bonus up to 10.5%
* Company funded priviate healthcare plan
* 26 days' holiday rising to 30 with service, plus bank holidays
* A wide range of private healthcare and wellbeing benefits
* Opportunities for professional development and career progression
* Hybrid working model, with typically 3 days per week in the office (more during initial training)
