About the role
17. This role will be 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with weekend working on a rotational basis
18. We know that having a work-life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role
19. This is a permanent role based in Newcastle. The role will involve regular travel, overnight stays in other parts of the country will be required. Therefore, flexibility and a full clean driving licenseis essential.
20. Reporting to the Food Safety & Regulatory Affairs Technical Manager, you will support shops with on-site and remote food safety advice and provide support to our Retail Teams and other stakeholders.
What you'll do
21. Actively promote and drive business initiatives to an excellent food safety culture throughout the business
22. Collecting, collating and communicating KPI data to schedule
23. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation
24. Contributing to Retail HACCP teams; reviewing, updating and maintaining HACCP systems and procedures
25. Investigating and monitoring non-compliance and incidents relating to enforcement and serious food safety complaints
26. Liaising with the Regional Technical Managers and Retail team to ensure customer complaints and investigations are handled and completed correctly
27. Ensuring microbiological sampling and data management is completed as directed
28. Ensuring allergen controls are appropriate and that labelling is legally compliant
29. Taking responsibility for raising the standards of hygiene and microbiological performance by providing in-shop support
30. Liaising with Pest Control contractors to ensure commitments are met and raise awareness of issues
31. Liaising with local Authority Representatives to provide problem resolution
32. Contributing to training activities where necessary
About you
We are looking for individuals who are driven, and can demonstrate:
33. A Degree or HNC level education in a Food Science based subject
34. HACCP Level 3 and Food Safety Level 3 qualifications
35. Minimum of 1 to 2 years experience working in a technical based food safety role in a production or retail background
36. Proven experience in investigations and internal audits with strong attention to detail
37. Proven experience of leadership, decision making and report writing
38. A result focused approach with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence others
