Finance Manager

* Salary: Up to £50,000

My client is seeking a Finance Manager to take full responsibility for their internal finance function. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, variety, and accountability within an SME environment. The Finance Manager will ensure accurate, timely financial reporting, maintain robust processes, and implement effective controls.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Financial Reporting & Controls:
o Prepare monthly Management Accounts and produce the monthly MI pack with clear commentary.
o Maintain and improve financial controls and processes.
o Oversee the part-time Accounts Assistant (PL, SL, and cashbook).
o Prepare the Annual Budget, periodic reforecasts, and Cashflow analysis and forecasts.
* Compliance & Statutory:
o Manage Payroll, VAT, and tax submissions.
o Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations.
o Liaise with external accountants for the preparation of Statutory Accounts.
* Systems & Process Improvement:
o Continually review and improve processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
o Support the business with cost-saving activities.
* General Duties:
o Manage workload independently and prioritise effectively.
o Liaise with the company owner on all financial matters.
o Support the wider business with financial insight and ad hoc analysis.
o Operate as the “go-to” finance professional across a busy manufacturing site.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* QBE or part-qualified accountant with solid SME experience.
* Manufacturing experience would be beneficial, although not essential.
* Comfortable taking ownership of all finance activities in a standalone or small team environment.
* Strong understanding of proper accounting processes and internal controls.
* Highly autonomous, organised, and self-motivated.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines consistently.
* Confident communicator able to work with colleagues at all levels.
* Proactive and able to identify and deliver process improvements.
* Comfortable adapting to seasonal business cycles.
