Ashperton Primary Academy is a vibrant, ambitious and happy rural school, set in beautiful surroundings in the heart of Herefordshire. We are proud of our calm, purposeful and friendly atmosphere, our committed staff team, and our strong relationships with families and the wider community.

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional teacher to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and ambitious practitioner to make a significant contribution to our school. Experience of teaching in Upper Key Stage 2 would be preferred.

The successful candidate will also take on Deputy Headteacher responsibilities, working closely with the Headteacher to support strategic leadership and school improvement. All applicants must be able to demonstrate strong evidence of excellent classroom practice, alongside the leadership qualities required to contribute effectively to the strategic direction and day-to-day leadership of the school.

About our school

Ashperton Primary Academy is a thriving primary school where children are known, valued and supported to achieve their very best. Visitors consistently comment on the positive ethos, strong behaviour for learning, and the warmth of relationships across the school community.

We are extremely proud of our award-winning buildings and outstanding outdoor provision, which play a central role in our curriculum. Our all-weather play and sports facilities, Forest School, outdoor classroom, woodland development and seven-acre field offer children rich opportunities for learning, wellbeing and adventure.

Our curriculum embraces creativity, child-initiated and inquiry-based learning, sport, outdoor learning and real-world experiences, alongside high academic expectations.

The role

We are looking for a teacher who will:

1. Deliver high-quality, engaging teaching that secures strong outcomes for all pupils
2. Create a positive, inclusive and purposeful classroom environment
3. Contribute to a broad, ambitious and well-sequenced curriculum
4. Build strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
5. Contribute positively to the wider life of the school
6. Supporting the Headteacher in driving school improvement priorities
7. Leading key areas such as curriculum, behaviour, assessment or staff development
8. Contributing to the day-to-day leadership of the school
9. Leading a core subject

The successful candidate will:

10. Be an excellent classroom practitioner with high expectations for all pupils
11. Be committed to continuous professional development
12. Have strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
13. Be a positive and collaborative member of staff
14. Demonstrate a passion to lead, inspire and influence others

We offer:

15. A welcoming, supportive and ambitious school community
16. Enthusiastic, well-behaved pupils who enjoy learning
17. A committed and collaborative staff team
18. Opportunities for professional development and leadership growth
19. A beautiful setting with exceptional outdoor provision

Ashperton Primary Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced check and further pre-employment checks will be conducted in accordance with KCSIE. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
