Location: Port of Dundee
Hours: 0800-1700 Monday - Thursday, 0800-1600 Friday + requirement to work overtime over evenings & weekends, occasional night shifts
Compensation: £43,512 + bonus

About The Role
As Operations Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable delivery of port operations at the Port of Dundee. You will support the planning and coordination of a wide range of cargo activities, including loading, discharging and storage, while supervising operational teams and contractors during vessel and intake/discharge periods. Working closely with colleagues across departments, you will help maintain high standards of safety, compliance and customer service, contributing to the smooth running of a busy 24/7 port environment.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Support the planning and coordination of daily port operations across multiple cargo types.
* Supervise operational teams and contractors to ensure safe and efficient working practices.
* Allocate labour and resources effectively to meet operational demands.
* Ensure systems (such as IPOS) are used accurately for data capture and revenue recording.
* Maintain high standards of safety, compliance, housekeeping and hygiene.
* Coordinate training, continuous assessments and development of port operators.
* Communicate with customers to understand their needs and provide a professional service.
* Liaise with internal departments to support smooth operational delivery.
* Assist with investigations into incidents, near misses and support continuous improvement.
* Support planning for equipment availability, maintenance and overall resource utilisation.

We are looking for a proactive and confident individual who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment. You will be flexible in your approach to work, with the ability to support a 24/7 operation, including working evenings, nights, weekends and occasional overtime to meet business needs. You will also be willing to travel from time to time to support operations at our other ports, including Methil and Kirkcaldy.
Strong communication skills are essential for this role. You will be comfortable engaging with a wide range of people, including operational colleagues, contractors, senior managers and customers, building positive working relationships and handling situations with professionalism and confidence. You will bring a resilient and approachable personality, able to lead by example, make sound decisions under pressure and contribute positively to team culture and customer experience.
Skills and experience required:
* Supervisory experience in a previous role is essential.
* Experience in port operations, distribution or warehousing, ideally within a unionised environment.
* Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
* Full driving licence, valid in the UK.
* Full right to work in the UK.
