Geotechnical Engineer We are currently working in partnership with a local authority in Bedfordshire to recruit a Geotechnical Engineer to join their in-house engineering team. This is a key technical role supporting the delivery of major infrastructure, highways, and regeneration projects across the borough. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for assessing ground conditions, carrying out site investigations, and producing robust, cost-effective designs that ensure the long-term safety and performance of structures. Key Responsibilities ·Lead and interpret site investigations (boreholes, trial pits, lab and in-situ tests). ·Assess soil, rock, and groundwater conditions for geotechnical design. ·Design geotechnical solutions including foundations, retaining walls, slopes, and ground improvements. ·Perform analysis on settlement, bearing capacity, slope stability, seepage, and liquefaction. ·Use software such as PLAXIS, SLIDE, GeoStudio, LPILE, CAD and BIM to model and coordinate designs. ·Produce technical reports and liaise with internal teams, contractors, and consultants. ·Provide geotechnical input during construction, including monitoring and problem-solving. About You ·Degree-qualified in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or related field). ·Strong understanding of soil mechanics and foundation behaviour. ·Skilled in geotechnical design and analysis software. ·Experience delivering infrastructure or public sector projects. ·Clear communicator with strong technical report-writing skills. ·Confident working within multidisciplinary teams.
