Role Overview
The Design Consultant for MYA Consulting plays a key role in the successful delivery of design projects, combining design expertise with structured project coordination and strong technical coordination.
This is a can be a hybrid working role, with time split between home, office, and client/project sites, depending on project needs.
You will work closely with internally with the Design Director, Consultants, externally with project disciplines, technical specialists, and clients to coordinate design development, manage technical interfaces, and ensure all deliverables are aligned, integrated, and delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Coordination (Core Focus)
* Coordinate multidisciplinary technical inputs across projects.
* Manage technical interfaces between internal teams, external consultants, and client stakeholders.
* Ensure alignment between technical deliverables and programme milestones.
* Identify, manage, and mitigate technical risks, dependencies, and clashes.
* Facilitate technical coordination and review meetings, tracking actions through to resolution.
* Ensure design, specifications and documentation is complete, consistent, and compliant.
Project Support & Coordination
* Support the day-to-day running of design projects.
* Assist with project planning, scheduling, and tracking of deliverables.
* Maintain project documentation (programmes, trackers, risk logs, action logs).
* Monitor progress against milestones and escalate issues where required.
Design Management
* Support the development and coordination of design deliverables.
* Review design outputs to ensure quality, compliance, and technical integrity.
* Ensure deliverables align with project scope, budget, and timeline.
* Support change management processes where technical changes arise.
Quality & Governance
* Maintain documentation and technical governance standards.
* Support adherence to internal processes and client frameworks.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of design and coordination practices.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Proven experience in technical coordination within design, engineering, or consulting Commercial Food and Beverage Design projects.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Ability to manage competing priorities and technical dependencies.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
Desirable:
* Experience in a consultancy environment.
* Familiarity with RIBA stages/project management methodologies.
* Understanding of risk management and project governance processes.
* Experience with design coordination tools or platforms.
