The role
As a Commissioning Environmental Engineer, you’ll support the commissioning of the first new nuclear power station built in the UK for a generation. This is an opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant infrastructure programme while ensuring that commissioning activities are delivered safely, responsibly, and with minimal impact on the environment.
Day‑to‑day, you’ll be required to:
* Create, maintain, and improve environmental safety controls across the commissioning programme.
* Monitor, coordinate, and review environmental activities in line with the HPC Safety Management System and Environmental Management Plans.
* Produce environmental safety performance reports, identifying trends, early warnings and recommending improvements.
* Engage with and influence commissioning teams on environmental issues, hazards, and risks.
* Undertake assessments, inspections, and assurance activities to support compliance with legal and regulatory duties.
This is a full‑time role working 37 hours per week at Hinkley Point C.
Essential experience of the Commissioning Environmental Engineer:
* Experience or understanding of environmental compliance within a regulated industry.
* Experience of writing, implementing or reviewing environmental specifications and environmental risk assessments.
* Knowledge of the UK environmental permitting and waste management framework.
* Ability to present environmental data clearly and produce high‑quality reports and records.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
Qualifications for the Commissioning Environmental Engineer:
* Degree in an environmental discipline or equivalent level of experience.
