Job Title: Backend Engineer (AWS Serverless / Node.js) Location: United Kingdom (Remote Working) Day Rate: £400 - £425 (Inside IR35) Start Date: April Job Type: 6 Month Contract We're looking for a Backend Engineer with strong AWS serverless experience to join a growing engineering team building scalable, data-driven platforms. This is a hands-on role where you'll design and develop event-driven integrations, build robust APIs, and help deliver secure, high-performing backend services in a modern cloud environment. Job Responsibilities/Objectives Building serverless, event-driven integrations on AWS to ingest and process data Developing backend services and APIs to power application features and core logic Automating infrastructure using CloudFormation and delivering via CI/CD pipelines Improving and maintaining security across the data platform (ODS) Supporting and mentoring developers within the engineering ecosystem Required Skills/Experience The ideal candidate will have the following: Strong experience with AWS serverless technologies (Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway) Solid Node.js backend development experience Experience with event-driven architectures and distributed systems Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and DevOps practices Experience working with data platforms or large-scale data processing Good understanding of cloud security best practices Tech stack AWS (Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, EventBridge, SQS) DynamoDB, OpenSearch, S3 CloudFormation Azure DevOps, Git Node.js Disclaimer Notwithstanding any guidelines given to level of experience sought, we will consider candidates from outside this range if they can demonstrate the necessary competencies.
