Job title: Early Years Play Assistant
Responsible to: The Group Manager

Purpose of the job: To work as part of the Early Years team under the direction of the Group Manager (or Deputy in their absence) to provide safe high quality education and care for young children.
Main duties
* To assist with the planning of the EYFS and provide relevant, age-appropriate experiences/activities.
* To help to set up the playroom and outdoor area for the daily activities/experiences and to help tidy away at the end of the session.
* To advise the Group Manager of any safeguarding concerns over children, families or team members preserving confidentiality as necessary. (Or the Deputy Manager in the Manager's absence).
* To provide learning opportunities for children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation, ensuring that your time is being used effectively at all times.
* When requested, to attend and participate in staff, committee, parent and outside agency meetings.
* To attend in-service training courses and meetings according to the statutory requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage, as well as Food Hygiene.
* To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is learned as part of the job.
* Keep up to date with observation and record keeping of the children you are a Keyperson to. Write reports, assessments or transfer record for each Keyperson child when necessary.
* To keep up-to-date with and implement all Early Years policies and procedures at Rainbow Early Years (REY).
* To adhere to the REY Code of Conduct and Confidentiality policy.
* To consider Continuous Professional Development (CPD) opportunities when they are offered to further your own knowledge and development of child development.

Personal Specification
Essential criteria
* Willingness to learn.
* Commitment to training.
* Suitable Level 2 or Level 3 course in childcare and education.
* Previous experience of working with young children.
* Commitment to the policies of REY.
* Commitment to supporting young children and families.
* Friendly, reliable and flexible approach.
Desirable criteria
* Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies.
* Paediatric First Aid qualification.
Pay dependent on qualification and experience. Initial short term contract to end of the academic year, with a view to extend.

Pay: From £12.21 per hour
Expected hours: 6 – 12 per week
