Job Description
My client, based in Derby, is seeking a motivated and capable individual to join its helpdesk as a Service Technician with a focus on Helpdesk support. The successful candidate will work alongside a team of Service Technicians who provide support to customers both in the office and in the field.
Working closely with other internal teams, the Service Technician will play a key role in delivering a high standard of customer service through phone, email, and chat support. The organisation takes pride in its customer-focused approach and the positive feedback regularly received from its customers. The role will primarily focus on Helpdesk support, with additional responsibilities carried out in the workshop.
Key Responsibilities
1. Providing technical Helpdesk support to customers via phone, email, and chat
2. Building and preparing EPOS systems, routers, and related hardware
3. Carrying out hardware diagnostics, repairs, and testing
4. Configuring bespoke software solutions
5. Evaluating and repairing returned hardware
6. Maintaining stock control and associated administrative processes
7. Liaising with suppliers to order and manage stock
8. Managing shipping, dispatch, and logistics tasks
9. Experience working as an IT Support Technician or in a similar role, or experience repairing and working with IT equipment
10. Strong PC skills and a willingness to continue developing technical knowledge (experience with EPOS systems is desirable)
11. A practical and logical approach to troubleshooting technical issues, both remotely and in person
12. A good working knowledge of Android and Windows operating systems
13. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and patiently with non-technical charity staff and volunteers
14. Experience using Microsoft Office applications (particularly Excel) and CRM case management systems
