The Role: Special Educational Needs Co:ordinator (SENCO)

This is an exciting, full:time leadership opportunity, starting ASAP, for a driven professional to oversee and strategically lead the provision for students with SEN across a large secondary school in Bradford. The individual will be pivotal in shaping the inclusive culture of the college, ensuring that all students, regardless of need, are fully supported to achieve their very best. The position demands a strong balance of strategic vision, practical application, and collaborative leadership to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement in student outcomes and well:being.

The School

The school is a large, co:educational secondary school situated in Bradford, serving the community. The team is cohesive, ambitious, and committed to overcoming the multiple challenges many students face, prioritising high:quality teaching, learning, and pastoral care to ensure every child has a great educational chance.

Key Requirements

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
* Proven, significant experience in coordinating and managing SEN provision.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness for one)

* Strategic Leadership: Ability to devise, implement, and monitor a cohesive whole:school SEN strategy.
* Interpersonal Communication: Exceptional skill in building rapport with students, parents, staff, and external stakeholders.
* Data Analysis: Proficient in interpreting and acting upon school, local, and national data to inform interventions.
* Empathy and Emotional Intelligence: Sensitivity and responsiveness to the needs of students and their families.
* Team Management: Skill in leading, inspiring, and managing a team of Teaching Assistants and support staff.
* Conflict Resolution: Ability to mediate and resolve disagreements effectively and professionally.

Core Responsibilities

* Be responsible for the strategic direction and development of the schools Special Educational Needs policy and provision.
* Oversee the day:to:day operation of the schools SEN provision and allocation of resources.
* Lead, manage, and appraise the work of all Teaching Assistants and SEN support staff.
* Ensure the statutory requirements for the identification, assessment, and review of students with SEN are met (including the four:part cycle and EHC Plans).
* Liaise with parents/carers of students with SEN, ensuring they are closely involved in their childs education and progress.
* Advise and train classroom teachers on effective strategies for supporting students with different types of SEN.
* Manage the designated SEN budget and oversee the procurement and deployment of specialist resources.
* Establish and maintain effective communication channels with the local authority and external support services.
* Contribute to the schools Senior Leadership Team (or relevant strategic body) to promote inclusive practice across the entire curriculum.
* Monitor and evaluate the quality of SEN provision and its impact on student outcomes.
