Philford Design Engineers Limited are looking for a Fabrication Apprentice to complete a Level 3 MetalFabricator apprenticeship and join their team.
A Fabricator plays a vital role in the manufacturing and production of metal components and structures. This position involves working with various types of metal to create parts, products and structures according to engineering specifications and project requirements. Metal Fabricators use a variety of tools and techniques, including welding, cutting and shaping to produce high-quality metalwork.
As an apprentice Fabricator, you will be learning all aspects of the above description, along with block / day release to a local college or training centre, your skills will increase throughout the apprenticeship, helping you to grow into a full-time Fabricator.
Role & responsibilities:
* Workshop fabrication involving working from drawings
* Measuring and marking out cutting and bending lines
* Double-checking design specifications before commencing with cutting work
* Setting up metalwork machinery including rollers, punch presses, flame cutters and shears
* Fabricating and constructing metal components
* Grinding and finishing completed products
* Cleaning tools, equipment and work areas
* Using measuring tools and basic math skills to ensure accurate dimensions
* Operate welding equipment and other fabrication machinery
* Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner in accordance with company and customerprocedures
* Maintain good working relationship and positive attitude towards the ‘job or task’ and all Philfordstaff
* Ensure the appropriate PPE for the task and work area is worn at all times

Things to consider:
During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Qualification Requirements:
Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements
You will need both of the following:
* GCSE English language C or 4 or above
* GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.
Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
