Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Locksmith to support ongoing operations on the island of Diego Garcia.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Locksmith is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of various locking mechanisms and security systems supporting both residential and commercial facilities. The Locksmith is also tasked with ensuring the proper functionality and security of locks, keys, and related systems. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Installing, repairing, and maintaining locks, padlocks, safes, door closures, and various security hardware.
2. Inspecting locking mechanisms to identify damage, wear, or malfunctions and performing required repairs or replacements.
3. Cutting and duplicating keys accurately using appropriate tools and equipment.
4. Rekeying locks, creating master key systems, and maintaining master key records.
5. Removing broken keys from locks and repairing or reprogramming electronic locking systems as necessary.
6. Diagnosing issues with locking mechanisms and providing timely and effective solutions.
7. Keeping a detailed record of keys issued, and ensuring access security by managing inventory control of keys and locking devices.
8. Working with electronic lock systems by installing, programming, and maintaining systems (, key card access and biometric locks).
9. Providing exceptional customer service to address lock, access, and security concerns.
10. Ensuring all work is documented accurately and records are filed in compliance with organizational and contractual requirements.
11. Following established safety guidelines and ensuring proper handling of tools, chemicals, and equipment related to locksmith operations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
12. Two (2) years of experience as a Locksmith or in a similar role in residential, commercial, or industrial settings.
13. Knowledge of various locking mechanisms, security systems, key cutting equipment, and related tools.
14. Familiarity with lock systems, electronic locking mechanisms, and key control procedures.
15. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex locking and security-related issues.
16. Ability to work independently and manage priorities to meet customer and operational requirements.
17. High school diploma or equivalent.
18. Must be in possession of a valid passport and able to travel internationally.Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year at the time of hire.
19. Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain operational readiness for the duration of deployment.
20. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
21. Completion of a recognized Locksmith apprenticeship or formal technical training.
22. Certification as a Locksmith or in access control systems.
23. Previous experience working with government or military locking and security systems.
24. Experience with high-security locking systems and electronic access systems.
25. Familiarity with working in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) or remote environment.
26. Proficiency in maintaining access control systems and working with master key systems.
