Acorn Homes is a provider of residential care homes for vulnerable children. We currently have multiple homes that have been rated \"Outstanding\" by Ofsted and are adding more homes to the Acorn family. We are always looking for more enthusiastic and dedicated people to join our team.
We are looking for a maintenance operative with a proven ability to plan priorities, monitor performance and deliver results has become available in our maintenance team. The ideal candidate must have a 'can do' approach to problem solving, be friendly and approachable, with previous experience of working in a maintenance role. You will understand the importance of keeping high standards in and around the homes and schools, ensuring our young people enjoy a safe environment.
This position is a full time position working Monday to Friday, 8:00-16:00 and will be 40 hours per week, inclusive of on call duties every 4 weeks.
They must be able to;
* Provide proactive and responsive repairs and maintenance services to ensure that faults in properties, including household equipment and fittings are dealt with in a timely fashion;
* Carry out initial inspection of faults reported and make repairs where appropriate;
* Maintain presentation of all internal and external areas;
* Record keeping of repairs and remedial actions needed;
* Thorough understanding of Health and Safety legislation;
To be successful in this role you must be a highly motivated individual, who has excellent attention detail and is capable of working under their own initiative.
The successful candidate must have:
* Ideally have a minimum of 3 years of on the job experience or equivalent.
* Basic computer skills required including a capable of using of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word
* Must have own hand tools (perishable tools will be covered)
* Must hold a full UK driving licence, and will be provided with a company pool van with fuel (business use only)
* Due to insurance criteria for a company pool van, applicants must be age 25 or above.

You will be joining a family owned company whos owner is a patron of the NSPCC. Acorn has an enviable reputation with local authorities for delivering good outcomes for young people and demonstrating resilience. Acorn Group also delivers education across two school sites (DFE registered), encompasses a Health and Well Being service which provides and delivers assessments and therapies. Acorn currently operate nine registered homes all rated Good or Outstanding and you would become a successful part of the team within the home with full support from an active and engaged Deputy and Manager, head office and senior management team.
