If you are a machinist who loves variety, problem solving and making parts that actually matter, this is a brilliant opportunity to join a high-performing in-house engineering team with a newly set up machine shop.
This is not production line machining. This role is about one-off and small batch components, repairs, improvements and bespoke equipment builds. You will become the go-to machinist for a busy engineering function, helping maintain momentum on projects and responding quickly when priorities shift.
You'll be working in a brand new machine shop environment that is being properly invested in, with real opportunity to shape how it operates.
The Role:
* Manual machining on lathe and mill (one-offs and small batch work)
* Operating an XYZ CNC Mill
* Working with various lathes (including smaller precision work)
* Using band saws, donkey saws and workshop cutting equipment
* Modifying existing parts – drilling, boring, reworking and improving fit/function
* Interpreting engineer requirements and turning them into workable components
* Working confidently with hand and power tools
* Occasional assistance with mechanical assembly
* Supporting repairs, improvements and bespoke builds
* Maintaining 5S standards and high housekeeping levels
* Remaining flexible and adaptable as project priorities change
The Environment & Equipment:
* XYZ-style CNC mill
* Multiple lathes
* Band saw, donkey saw and workshop cutting equipment
* Cleaning/degreasing set-up being added
What We're Looking For:
* Proven machinist with workshop background (small batch/varied work ideal)
* Comfortable machining mixed materials (steel, aluminium, plastics, etc.)
* Practical, adaptable and solutions-focused
* Able to work independently while supporting a wider engineering team
* Comfortable managing longer jobs while reacting to urgent requests
* Strong attention to detail and quality standards
This is a genuine opportunity to step into a machine shop that is being built properly, with investment, autonomy and long-term prospects.
If you're looking for a varied machining role where your skill actually makes a difference, this could be the move.
