About the Role

Instrumentation and Controls Engineer

Are you ready to shape the future of energy? Join us at EDF UK and play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of our control systems at Sizewell B Power Station.

The Opportunity

As an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer, you'll be part of the Process Computing Group, a dynamic team of 18 engineers and technicians. You'll work on maintaining and improving control systems and instrumentation that are critical to the station's operations.

This is your chance to contribute to Sizewell B's long-term vision, supporting its life extension to 2055 and beyond. You'll be at the heart of innovation and reliability in one of the UK's most important energy facilities.

Pay, Benefits & Culture

The salary range associated with this role is between £45,641 - £81263. You'll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications. We offer a range of benefits, including enhanced parental leave, electric vehicle leasing, health insurance, critical illness insurance, technology vouchers, gym membership, and season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort, whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely. We're committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and we're on an action-oriented journey to champion these values.

We're a disability confident employer and we'll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll design, implement, and maintain instrumentation and control systems that underpin safe and reliable power generation. Your work will directly impact the performance and safety of our operations.

You'll configure and troubleshoot computer-based systems, including PLCs, SCADA platforms, and field instrumentation. Working closely with teams across maintenance, operations, and engineering, you'll drive continuous improvement.

Who You Are

You bring a solid foundation with an HNC in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related discipline. Your experience with industrial control systems, such as Ovation, Siemens, or Allen-Bradley, sets you apart.

Your understanding of instrumentation, signal processing, and control logic is matched by your proactive approach to problem-solving and system reliability. You thrive in collaborative environments and are driven by innovation.

Ideally, you'll have a background in nuclear, energy, or heavy industry, and be familiar with cybersecurity in control systems and digital transformation.

How to Apply

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Clearance (SC), which will, ordinarily, require you to have British residency for the last 5 years.

EDF UK is an equal opportunities employer and we welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
