Overview
Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team supports Amazons commitment to innovation by ensuring tools and technologies perform at the highest standards. As a Senior RME Technician, you will help us stay ahead by adopting new technologies, identifying efficient ways of working, and upgrading processes to maintain and raise our standards.
This role is located at one of our operational sites. You will work shift patterns that may include some weekends and nights. As you develop your experience within this part of Amazon, you will be well-placed to progress into more senior roles.
About The Team: Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team keeps equipment performing at its best. We are technically minded, collaborative, and guided by experienced leaders. We troubleshoot and repair equipment across Amazons global network of fulfilment centres, with opportunities to work on cutting-edge technology such as Amazon Robotics and the Complex Item Sorter.
Responsibilities
* Demonstrate best practice on using equipment safely and monitor teams to ensure correct processes are followed
* Track equipment performance through visual checks, condition-based monitoring, and preventative maintenance; schedule additional servicing when required
* Supervise technicians on shift to support development and act as the first point of contact for Reliability Maintenance Engineers
* Resolve equipment issues to reduce downtime and help operations process packages quickly
* Identify ways to continually improve systems and standardise processes across the EU network
* Lead a team each shift to ensure equipment is available and running properly, monitoring processes to ensure regulatory compliance and preventative maintenance is carried out
* Monitor system performance with tools such as SCADA and collaborate with your line manager on admin tasks
A day in the life
In every shift, you’ll lead the team to ensure everyone has the equipment they need and that it is operating correctly. You will observe and suggest improvements to increase efficiency and implement those improvements across an EU-wide function.
You’ll work across shifts with a focus on reducing downtime, maintaining high site uptime, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. You’ll also help define improvements and deploy them across the site network.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
* A full Engineering indentured Apprenticeship and/or qualified to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering subject
* Relevant experience in a technical leadership role
* Relevant experience working in both electrical and mechanical disciplines
* Relevant experience in automation or material handling equipment environments
* Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working in a multi-contractor and multi-site working environment
* Understanding of PLC-based controls systems and statutory compliance requirements
* Experience using computerised maintenance management systems to plan proactive maintenance and record reactive tasks
* A degree preferably in a technical discipline or operations
