Opportunity has arisen to join our Adult Speech and Language Therapy team. You will assist in the provision of therapy services for patients with communication disorders and swallowing problems. This is for inpatients and outpatients at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Our Team provides
* Specialist Clinics: Joint Voice Disorders, Hoarse Voice Clinical Assessment and Treatment (CATS) Clinic, SLT-led nasendoscopy, Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and videofluoroscopy
* Assessment and treatment of patients with a wide range of swallowing and communication difficulties.

You will work on Wednesdays as a core day. You will be able to work from 8am-5.30pm on 3rd, 4th and 5th (if applicable) Wednesdays of the month. The other day of work can be discussed and negotiated. Duties of the job are below and detailed in the job description. Training will be given.
Main duties of the job
Assistant in the provision of Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) for inpatients and outpatients with multiple and varied medical diagnoses. This may involve completing therapy programmes with inpatients or outpatients.
Set up and assistance in the running of specific clinics. These clinics include the Hoarse Voice Clinical Assessment and Treatment Clinic (CATS) and the Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing Clinic (FEES). Both of these clinics use endoscopes which are passed through the patient’s nose. You will greet patients and follow the correct infection control protocols to set up and clear down the clinics, you will set up the endoscopy kit, as well as transferring the digital images from the kit to the hospital system.
Undertake projects to support the overall delivery of the service as instructed and guided by the therapists.
Ensure the efficient and effective use of resources available within the team and fulfilling clinical administrative duties where appropriate.
Working with other members of the team in the development of the service as needed.

Qualifications & Training
* To have passed NQV Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support or equivalent qualification level
* To have passed Level 2 skills in Maths and English; ie GCSE Maths and English Grade 4 (formerly Grade C) or above or equivalent
* To have a Care Certificate
* IT skills for keeping notes and document transfer
Knowledge & Experience
* Experience of working with adults in an acute hospital, outpatient or care setting
* Experience of using computers to input data, transfer image date, write notes and receive emails
* Portfolio of experience in healthcare setting
* Experience of working with patients with communication disorders
* Experience of carrying out a range of Speech and Language Therapy programmes under supervision
* Experience of SystmOne, Nerve Centre and Clinical Portal
* Experience of working with nasendoscopes equipment and operation of nasendoscopy stacks
* Experience of working as an assistant in an ENT/voice clinic/nasendoscopy setting
