This role involves illustrating the comic portion of a unique 'nomic'—a hybrid novel and comic—centered on the lives of the companions of the Prophet (sahabah). The project is designed for publication and aims to visually bring to life key moments and narratives from Islamic history. The illustrator will collaborate closely with the editorial team to ensure historical accuracy and cultural sensitivity, while also contributing creative input to the visual storytelling. The work is fully remote, and the timeline for delivery is flexible, allowing for a collaborative approach to scheduling. This is a single project with the possibility of future assignments based on performance and project needs.
Responsibilities
* Create detailed comic illustrations that accurately depict scenes from Islamic sirah, focusing on the companions of the Prophet.
* Collaborate with editors to interpret scripts and translate them into engaging visual narratives.
* Ensure all artwork aligns with cultural and historical contexts, maintaining respect and authenticity.
* Deliver high-quality, print-ready digital files according to project specifications.
* Incorporate feedback from the editorial team and make revisions as needed.
* Manage project timelines and communicate progress regularly.
Skills and Requirements
* Proven experience in comic illustration, preferably with published work or portfolio samples.
* Strong drawing and storytelling skills, with the ability to convey emotion and action through sequential art.
* Familiarity with Islamic history or willingness to research and accurately represent historical figures and settings.
* Proficiency in digital illustration tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Clip Studio Paint.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
