Working hours: 35 Hours per week. Contract type: Full‑time, Permanent.
Work pattern: Week 1 – Mon‑Fri 9am‑5pm, one evening 12:30 pm‑8pm. Week 2 – Mon‑Fri 9am‑5pm, one evening and one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday).
Additional remuneration: 6.7% Flexibility Payment.
Applicants must have an existing right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Responsibilities
* Play a key role in delivering a vibrant cultural and educational offer within the Henry Watson Music Library.
* Plan, deliver, and continuously improve the public engagement programme for diverse audiences.
* Lead and deliver an inclusive programme of events, learning activities, and partnerships that promote the Henry Watson Music Library.
* Target outreach with young people and other under‑represented communities to improve access, participation and impact.
* Raise the profile and use of specialist music collections through in‑building promotion, the website, newsletters, and social media.
* Organise own and others’ activities, carrying out operational planning for the music library service area.
Qualifications and Skills
* Hold a recognised professional library or archive qualification or equivalent experience.
* Experience working in public libraries with excellent customer service skills.
* Strong communication skills: understand others’ views, communicate realistically, listen attentively, and respond appropriately.
* Planning and organising ability: effectively prioritise tasks and allocate time and energy according to complexity.
* Problem‑solving and decision‑making: analyse situations, diagnose problems, identify key issues, evaluate alternatives, and produce logical solutions.
* Creative thinking: find solutions where no existing parameters exist.
* Strategic thinking: identify good practice, areas for improvement, and communicate to colleagues and stakeholders.
* Commissioning skills: manage partner relations, enquiry responses, feedback evaluation, website management, performance advice, and data quality assurance.
* People management: organise own and others’ activities and conduct operational planning for the service area.
* Technical skills: excellent digital and ICT skills across a range of packages and knowledge of their use in service development, experience of library stock management and associated systems.
* References: 3 years of employment history are required where possible.
