Specialist Occupational Therapist - Chronic Pain
Chronic Pain Therapy team is looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. The role spans Band 5 to Band 6, providing full training and support for progression. The successful candidate will work in an outpatient setting with chronic pain and long‑term condition patients.
Responsibilities
* Deliver therapy to patients across OT, complex and MDT clinics and group settings.
* Communicate confidently with patients and peers, using positive challenge strategies.
* Apply health coaching and motivational interviewing techniques.
* Lead clinical audits and participate in research activities.
* Develop service improvements and provide supervision/education for OT students.
* Engage with Pain Consultants, specialist nurses and psychologists to coordinate care.
Person Specification
Essential
* Degree in Occupational Therapy
* HCPC registered Occupational Therapist
* Evidence of specialist postgraduate CPD activities
* Experience in a junior OT role managing a range of conditions; demonstrable knowledge from formal and informal supervision
* Delivery of audit and service improvement projects
* Developed specialist clinical skills in relevant area
Desirable
* Experience training/supporting/supervising others within a specialist area
* Membership of a relevant professional body
* Experience working in a client‑driven NHS environment
* Practice placement supervisor qualification
* Use of outcome measures to evaluate OT interventions
