Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Tyre Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining tyres on a variety of vehicles and plant. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, physical stamina, and excellent customer service skills. The successful applicant will work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring safety and quality standards are met at all times. This position offers an opportunity to develop technical skills within the construction industry while providing essential services to our clients.
This role is day shift & back shift on alternate weeks, with enhanced rate for backshift and overtime.
Responsibilities
* Remove and replace tyres using hand tools and power tools efficiently and safely
* Conduct tyre inspections to identify damage or wear and advise management accordingly
* Perform wheel balancing and alignment procedures as required
* Maintain accurate records of work carried out on each vehicle
* Assist with vehicle maintenance tasks related to tyre care and replacement
* Ensure all work areas are kept clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations
* Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot tyre-related issues effectively
* Lift heavy tyres safely, adhering to manual handling guidelines
* Communicate with Storeman and Buyer to ensure stock levels are correct and meet need of requirements to ensure jobs are complete to a programme.
Skills
* Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in tyre fitting or automotive maintenance preferred
* Proficiency with hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and tyre levers
* Experience using power tools for tyre removal and installation processes
* Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures related to tyres and wheels
* Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
* Physical strength and stamina for heavy lifting and manual labour tasks
* Organised with attention to detail to ensure quality workmanship and safety compliance
* IT skills to complete jobs on workshop app on a tablet and tyre inspections app ensuring tyres records are accurate.
